Allen Campbell swap

Created by: HabsFan33
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 2, 2023
Published: Nov. 2, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know it's still early in the season but wondering if Oilers would do this to get rid of Campbell's contract? Allen has played well so far this year.

Just curious if this would work for EDM.

MTL deals with Campbell's contract later on down the road. He either becomes the back up or they flip him in the 2025-26 season half retained for F/C.
Trades
MTL
  1. Campbell, Jack
  2. Lavoie, Raphael
  3. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
  4. 2026 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
The '24 1st rd pick is for dumping the contract.
The '26 2nd rd pick is conditional. If the Oilers win the Cup in 2024 or 2025, that pcik becomes a 2026 top 10 protected 1st rd pick. If the pick is top 10, MTL gets the '26 2nd and a '26 3rd round pick.
EDM
  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Ylönen, Jesse
  3. 2024 4th round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
In the breakdown, EDM is paying a 2nd and Lavoie for Allen, Ylonen and the 4th.

I think Montreal’s rebuild timetable is moving faster than first expected and taking Campbell’s contract would prove problematic down the road.

So are they just going to go with the tire fire that is their goaltending situation?

I guess you can hope Skinner remerges, but he’s looked horrendous so far.

I’m not claiming Jake Allen is all that great of an alternative, but don’t you have to do something?

Did you quote the wrong person here? I'm a Habs fan. Huh?
