This is an off-season type of trade.

If Philly was buying at deadline, would they ship out Konecny? If they were selling at deadline, would they pay to rent Nylander?

At this point, Leafs should be considering him ‘own rental’ if they don’t extend.

Flyers easily decline this lol. If Nylander wants to come in FA he’s more than welcome. Nobody is paying that for him when he’s that close to FA

Probably not off on any value, just doesn't make the timing sense for PHI to trade for what would be a marginal upgrade in RW for their purposes in their rebuild. TK has looked great so far this year so I don't think him becoming a consistent 40-goal scorer is out of the question. Not as dynamic as Nylander but can't see the Flyers using that 1st for anything other than a draft pick.

Yeah, if anyone is buying a player if that caliber in-season, it’s going to be futures-heavy return. Just won’t be many options for ‘hockey trade’ at deadline.

Leafs aren't trading Nylander. I don't believe he wants to leave Toronto. But that's just guessing on my part.

I don't think there's any trade that involves Nylander going to PHI that makes sense for both sides, because Nylander would be viewed as a rental and the only motivation for Toronto to trade him and not keep him as an own rental is if they are getting better. So, the best thing I could think of as being remotely realistic is a case where essentially Nylander is being used to overpay for a player with term and the Leafs are paying for Konecny in futures at a reduced price.

Something like Konency+Laughton for Nylander+2024 1st+Robertson. I don't see much motivation for PHI doing this trade, unless they are in the playoff race, and are somewhat sure that Nylander would sign with them.

Alternative could be a post-season, pre-draft trade where are team acquires Nylander’s rights for much smaller return but gets an 8th year on contract (similar to Severson trade last year).

It sucks that our most expendable player is our best player this season.

One of the only players that routinely shows up night in and night out.
