Description
Overpay for Carrier but it’s important the sharks get in a cup winning player who can show the young core the right way to play. Worth the overpay not on a long term deal.

San Jose needs to push for RD imo. Artyom Levshunov would be ideal (if they dont win lotto), and Hanifin doesnt do much for them unless its like a 3 year deal where they flip after two or so.

And they need to tank at least through 24-25 imo. Prospect pool needs at least two more A prospects. Smith is an A and you add a defenseman to that and then another forward and it looks way better. Plus they still need to draft a goalie

If this team keeps playing the way they have been, I could see Couture and Hertl asking to be traded. Grier already said he would look to trade them if they asked for one.

If all San Jose gets for taking on 3 years of Campbell at $5M and zero retention is a 1st they got incredibly fleeced. A 1st or equivalent for each year is the starting point of negotiation.

Tampa Bay might consider that. They have a couple of RD prospects in the AHL who may be ready to play in the NHL next season.

I'm going to get crucified, but I don't see Smith as an A prospect. Has potential, sure.
