Description

Not ultra-realistic, but I see the slim possibility McDavid demands a trade after this year. If he does, I’d imagine Draisaitl would want out too.

After all of these moves, Edmonton’s roster isn’t the best on paper. However, it could still not only compete, but long term it is in a phenomenal situation, and the plethora of draft picks could make the Oilers a major threat 5 or so years down the road.

Holland isn't smart enough to pull the plug even if the chance of McDavid turning things around was ZERO.

You have it backwards sir. Draisaitl is the one who can be extended this offseason. McDavid cannot. That means a sign & trade is likely to bring back a monster return.

McDavid on the other hand. Look he's the best player in the league, I get that, but teams cannot give up this return for 2 years of team control. They need a long term agreement. If a GM gave this kind of return and then McDavid walks in 2 years, they are totally done. Not just fired, never employed again.

Its too much risk.

That hard truth by including Campbell most teams could not afford both salaries, so Leon becomes a rental.
But if he was included, the Oilers would be fortunate to get Casey, one of Benson or Savaoe (certainly not both) and a first.
Five years of the $5,000,000 milstone is worth 2 first round picks.
I cannot think of any player who got two A+ prospects, a young 60+ playmaking center, young GK (while inconsistent shows flashes of brilliance), a second and four first round picks (2 in the trade and 2 for Campbell).
My counter offer taking into consideration is the equivent to nearly 5 mid first round picks, that is till a huge price to pay.

Plus, the Sabres don’t need retention on Draisaitl

I saw another EDM fan send him to the Sabres for Savoie & a 1st- which isn’t enough, but it would be something closer to that…. Add another prospect (Rosen?) and another pick,
and then u have a reasonable deal for BOTH sides
