backup goalies aren't worth all that much trade value. and with "protect one" goalie expansion a trade was difficult anyway. and Holtby has NTC and iffy contract for a good return.

Could've traded Grubauer to a team that needed a starter cause he is a starting goalie. An iffy contract? Look what price is making. You can't argue Holtby is worth 4M less than Price. They put up similar numbers and Holtby has great term on his contract. I would've loved to have traded Grubauer to Arizona before they acquired Raanta and we could've probably gotten a decent pick for him. Not the 7th overall, but a decent pick or two.

Bridge deal. He got 3m, so 2.75 is not far off of that. I think I know what I'm talking about. He hasn't proved much of anything yet other than the fact that he has the talent to be a top 6 scorer. But it hasn't translated into numbers yet.

Regarding Holtby's contract. There aren't too many teams that can afford Holtby's contract...without sending money back to Washington, which is kinda the purpose of a Holtby trade...to free cap space.
Holtby has had the good future of having a career with a contending team. I wonder how he perform in Arizona or a team that lots of cap to obtain him. Maybe he just turns into "another guy"
