The offer isn't good. Even without the 2nd going back to Vancouver, this offer would not be tempting.

As much as CGY fans want a rebuild, CGY is retooling at most, so he's likely not available unless they are getting a significant roster player from VAN. With that offer, you're probably looking at Tanev at best, Hanifin if they are super lucky.

Not even close to weegars value. He had the highest defensive component of GVSA in the league last year, and Calgary sucked. Maybe you can contribute 2 years of Florida as giving him that value, but he was solid for the flames. Our goalie just had the yips and our coach sucked.

Clearly the cowtown homers don't like the deal... But I don't think the Canucks should take him on. Flames fans can wax poetic about his fancy stats, but Weegar isn't exactly a household name, and is not worth a king's ransom, nor do I think that contract will age well at all. Flames committed huge long term money to guys past/passing their prime. Let them deal with those problems. Rent Tanev, maybe, for a playoff run instead.
