Carlo can’t be obtained and add Lauzon to the list but we don’t want Murphy he’d need high retention and then it’s not worth the price

I know Carlo's unlikely, Lauzon is a good one, and yeah Murphy's probably not worth it but at the right price he could be

Yeah like a first and a 3rd for half retained but I doubt Chicago would do that

I think Tanev is the only reasonable target here. None of the others are likely available unless they get an offer they can't refuse.

I think any trade for Murphy at this point would have to be a massive overpayment. The Hawks don't need to trade him and his cap hit helps keep them at the floor. His presence on the 2nd pairing gives Korchinshi a little extra slack especially since his defensive game sucks terribly at the moment. They're not in win-now mode and have amassed a crap ton of picks, so they have the luxury of being extremely picky in terms of which players they hold onto and which ones get dealt. Plus Murphy and Jones are the only RD regulars on the roster. We have Zaitsev but he's used sparingly. Phillips has been playing right side on the 3rd pairing but he's left-handed and aside from Crevier and Rinzel, there's nobody in the pipeline making the leap in the next couple of years.

Connor Kelley is in the pipeline and is due an ELC next summer.

Who did you hear that from? I don't see any reason why they shouldn't give him a contract. But, when guys get this close to their ELC deadlines, it definitely becomes more questionable. He is having a great senior year, though, and it's not just on a paper. I've watched a few Providence games and he looks legit. Definitely worth a couple years in the AHL, at least, unless they have other plans that will bring RHD to the pro level quickly.

He had a down year last year and fell off a lot of peoples radars. But I try not to knock guys for one down year. It happens to the best players in the world, so it can definitely happen to prospects.

Don't quote me on this but I thought I heard that from Jack Bushman on Locked On. He may have been referring to someone else that was up this offseason though and I just thought it was Kelley. Either way, I'm with you. He's a RD in a system with need for RD so it makes sense to ink him.

Krutil is definitely gone. Something in him broke a few years ago. If you're being demoted in Europe, your path to the NHL becomes a lot harder.

Edit: I just checked his stats for this year and after he was once again demoted something seemed to click offensively. Maybe there's a glimmer of hope for the 21 year old.
