Pass from LA, too much and too much for a goalie contract.

Goalies will have LA circled as a destination, Talbot is one of the best goalies in the league thanks to the Kings defense.

Highly doubt Talbot can keep it up next year so who are you targeting? Hart is the only other option IMO.

I don't see Spencer or Kaliyev in the long term outlook so why not use them to acquire a top 5 goalie?

I feel like martinez almost certainly gets at least double that, and Matt Roy as a young top 4 RD UFA should get a bag as well. and talbot gets way more than league min, especially at this pace

Not if he wants to go back to LA which is a possibility.

Even then that's a hefty discount. If you want to go in he's 35+ so you can load him up with bonuses tho

The goaltender target for LA next season is probably not on anyone's radar right now.

There isn't a single goaltender in the NHL that I would pay more than $6.5M to.

Spence is criminally underrated with what he has brought this season, the guy can't miss a pass and I think there is an offensive gear here we haven't seen, our third pair looks incredible and I think it's more him than Englund. Kaliev's time to sell is coming soon, we need to get him to breakout offensively and use him and Bjornfot as the trade pieces for a struggling top prospect goalie who we can protect behind a veteran goalie. I wouldn't be upset about 3x1 for Talbot next season, and I think he'd go for it. My biggest concern in playing Spence and Clarke is we lose what Englund has brought in physicality. I don't know a bout you, but I've been seeing physicality from several players this season and LA has their long-term tough guys coming: Helenius and Ziemmer will bring the eventual physicality we've enjoyed from Englund.

I see our lineup as something like:

Byfield-Kopi-Kempe
Moore-Danault-Fiala
Grundstrom-PLD-Laferierre
Kaliyev-Lizzote-Turcotte
----
Anderson-Doughty
Gavrikov-Clarke
Spence-Roy

Although if we can't reup Roy, Martinez-Spence could be impressive.

As far as why I'm not feeling Saros, he's 28 and in his best play window now, but for goalies they can fall out of that quick. I think let's just offer no more than 2-3 year contracts until Portillo and other prospects can be made ready.

There's only room for one of Spence or Clarke. Spence will stick around until Clarke is ready, then will be moved. His quality play this season will be a huge boon for the Kings when it comes to his trade return.

Maybe, but I'm hoping we hold onto Spence. I think there is something to having an offensive minded defenseman on each line: Doughty, Clarke, Spence would feel akin if not better than: Doughty, Voynov/Muzzin, Martinez. We have our shutdown guys, I just see another gear with this team having both Spence and Clarke.

Both Blake and McLellan said last year that having Durzi playing his off-handed side was "not ideal." They made changes this season so they wouldn't have to do that. I don't think they'll voluntarily run with 4 righties unless they have no other choice. They might keep Spence around for another season, but only if they feel like Clarke isn't ready yet. I'll be very surprised if Spence is in the Kings organization at next season's trade deadline.

Now that's all moot if Matt Roy prices himself off the Kings. I think the Kings will make it a priority to keep him around, but if he's looking for Gavrikov money, I don't see how the Kings can afford to do that. If he leaves, then I can see the Kings keeping both of Clarke and Spence.
