Hey bud, you certainly have a right give an opinion on any team. I actually didn't mind the UFA signings for the Leafs this summer, but they haven't played to their contracts.
Leafs Dmen aren't so bad but the Leafs went into the season razor thin with NHL depth. Then Timmins got hurt, Klingberg wasn't good then injured, Liljegren injured and maybe now even Giordano might be out .
I'll never understand the why the Leafs signed Trevling. It's been a habit of the Leaf owners for the past 20 years, signing poor GMs. Ferguson, Burke, Nonis, Dubas and Trevling.
The right to have an opinion comment wasn't directed at you. It's for all the posters who continue playing this card when I talk about their teams.
When SJ was good I never did that to fans of bad teams. I think it's ignorant but there's nothing I can do about it. The low hanging fruit is an easy target.
Anyways I think GM's make so much money now that it's easy to agree to being a puppet. Even when Treliving was Flames GM he always struck me as one. A "yes man."
I know he comes from wealth because of who his father is. He's well liked amongst the NHL's old boys club.
I didn't think he was very good or very bad in Calgary. Just average. I think Shanny is also a "Yes man" and will do whatever it takes to keep his job.
Personally, I think it's a bad look to live in Manhattan and be President of the Leafs. Shows how committed he actually is. But that's just my opinion.
Kind of like years ago when radio host Bob McCowan was living in Vegas and hosting a show in Toronto.
People often hire people they get along with and like. After Dubas left, Shanny didn't have too long to hire a replacement.
Treliving was available and suddenly he's Leafs GM. It didn't move the needle for me. But it's only fair to give him some time to put his stamp on the team.
That being said. I'm a firm believer in history repeating itself. You are what you constantly do.
