Assuming Calgary is also going to be moving out Hanafin and Tanev, they should be wanting to add some young replacements who they can plug right in.

Boqvist is highly skilled offensively and is making strides defensively as well. With only 2 affordable years left on his deal and 186 NHL games as a 23-year-old, CGY can plug him right in and take some time to evaluate if he is a part of their future.

Texier is a hard-working bottom-9 player that gives CGY a versatile wing that could be part of their future. He will be an RFA after the season so they will have some flexibility if they want to re-sign him or not.

After the Calgary trade, Peeke plays top pair with Z until Severson comes back. The trade with Nashville is made around mid-late January.

I don't think Trotz is interested in a long rebuild with guys like Forsberg, O'Reilly and Josi under contract. His trend has been to bring in hard-working, team-first guys, and Peeke fits that bill to a tee. They have a surplus of picks, so spending a late-rounder on the big dman is relatively low-risk and he fits their plan.

When Roslovic comes back from injury, the lineup will be a carousel with Pascal trying to get everyone into games. As good as the young guys have looked, this should make Roslovic expendable, and he could be a nice deadline addition for a contender. Not sure where he goes, but I expect CBJ will retain 50% on his expiring deal and get back about a 2nd round for him. This trade should happen early-to-mid February.
