Boston isn't paying enough for what they're getting, Carolina is paying too much and Calgary isn't getting enough.

Calgary would prefer Lohrei over Grzelcyk and could retain 50% on Hanifin or Lindholm to balance the cap for Boston. Alternately simply removing the Calgary 2nd round pick just might be enough for the Flames to do it.

But I can't see Carolina giving up Necas and a 1st for Ulmark alone.

Value wise from Calgary's PoV: Lindholm > Hanifin > Necas > Lohrei > Poitras = Carolina 1st > Calgary 2nd >= Vladar

Grzelcyk does have some value but he isn't a player Calgary would target to trade for. He's just a pending UFA Boston should be happy to move to make room for Hanifin.

Ulmark has value too but not to the Flames who already have too many goalies which is why they'd move Vladar.

I appreciate your analysis bud. Felt like there was mutual benefit, but couldn't pinpoint the balance. I saw Necas on the 4th line of the projected lineups for tonight and I haven't put eyes on his play in awhile. Seemed like an odd man out.

Getting Necas, 1st, Poitras, and Gryz for Hanifin, Lindholm, a 2nd with MINIMAL retention would be making out like BANDITS for 2 rentals.

Necas is absolutely the most valuable asset in this trade.

Necas>>Lindholm>Hanifin>Poitras>1st>2nd>>>>>>>>>Vladar
