too much risk, contract so long. dosnt fit with montreal timeline too well.

One of four untouchable players on the caps rn I would say. Plays so well with Ovi, on a very reasonable contract covering all of his prime, one of like two forwards on the team that can actually score. The only way I can see him being moved is if it's in a Huberdaeu for Tkachuk type deal where the Caps are significantly upgrading at that spot. Montreal doesn't have anyone that fits that bill.

They're not rebuilding and even if they did they would (correctly IMO) want enough of a top line around Ovi to give him the best chance possible to catch Gretzky. Look at that forward core and who else is even close to being a 1st-line level talent besides Strome?

Ovi and Carlson are untouchable because of what they mean to the franchise. Wilson is pretty close to being at that level. Strome is the only forward who can bridge that gap for Ovi while guys like McMichael, Lapierre, Leonard, Miroshnichenko develop.
