Description

Calgary would need to take another player back to make the cap work for Carolina but I'm not sure who that player would be.

Anthony DeAngelo makes sense since he makes about the right amount of money and is a pending UFA. Calgary might be willing to add a little something extra for him too.

A Tanev for Pesce swap with retention on Tanev could work for Calgary too but might not work for Carolina.

Try to make intelligent trades in the future

Carolina isn’t trading a 24 year old RW/C who’s capable of 30+ goals and 70+ points for a soon to be 34 year old expensive goalie and a bottom 6 player. Markstrom and Dube have nowhere close to the value Necas has

I do agree it’s the wrong player that Carolina is trading and is a poor value.

I thought a Vladar and Markstrom for Orlov and Raanta deal might make a lot more sense.

Calgary makes room for Wolf while getting a LD that can replace Hanifin when you trade him

Necas is overrated - that some guy with history of questionable takes says he might get 30+goals / 70+ points is laughable. Dude has been in the league for 4 years and hit that level once; this year he’s back on track for 20/60. And age for goalies is less of an issue - Markstrom’s ceiling is vezina level, especially in front of vaunted defensive system in Carolina. Didn’t seem too outrageous to me 🤷🏻
