Are you saying that you think that it is too early to try to squeak into the playoffs next year, given that Montreal is still in the rebuild stage?

Look at the division Habs are in. They will not make the playoffs for at least another 3 seasons. They have been able to build a strong Dman prospect pool but have absolutely nothing up front. No core to build around. I don't think building around two small, inconsistent players (Suzuki + Caufield) is the key to success.

Reinbacher isnt ready
Like Josi he'll need another year at least in NLA at best
Huston is WAY closer then Reinbacher
Like Hughes said 2025 is when he expects the young RD here

Xhekaj and Mailloux are doing great in Laval as top pair.
Mailloux was struggling so bad Struble couldnt even help him find consistency
But Xhekaj has in a short period of time.

Roy , Xhekaj , Mailloux, Huston and Tuch will join the team before this year up.
Mesar and Beck as they have the last 2 years will be battling for a final roster spot
Mesar's steps forward at Center as one of the top producing OHL Centers gives great hope for Slafkovsky as well.
Slaf before this past month had his best games beside Dach and Mesar at Center.

There's so many pieces that are going to need roster sports that half the Pending UFA's you kept this year or the ones next year are in their way.
Best to sell off this year and next year if at the TDL we've had the kids step up then take the assets we gathered from selling and invest them in something we need.

Tuch/Hutsons Chemistry is really flying under the radar in MTL because most fans dont pay for NCAA
But i can tell you his net front style creates a lot of Chaos that Hutson Capitalizes on regularly.

rEALLY GUYS MONTREAL IS NOT FAR FROM A PLAYOPFF TEAM BUT I A LITTLE farer to be a contender. they have to translate several young defenseman and some picks into an elite winger. Then you have caufield and suzuki and Dach and newhook plus the elite winger and add Roy to that and you got a top six. We just need that elite player like a Nylander and for slaf to contiue his development. Roy could go on the third line if slaf is ready for top minutes. And montembault is playing like an Nhl starter.. So you got the goalie as well. Next year Hutson might be ready but if not I still like matheson and Guhle and Struble and xhekaj and Harris and barron and savard. That will be solid and then you have Hutson and Reinbacher coming for 2025. Plus we have another top 10 pick coming this yeaR. And depth forwards montreal has a ton of them including Beck, Evans, Heinemann, Ylonen Rhp, etc... plus you still got Engstrom and Farrell to trade plus Harris. so we are not far. But we do need an elite winger whether as a free agent or in a mutli player trade.

And nashville will never do that trade lol. But Forsberg could be that elite winger but Nashville will not trade that goalie and we dont need him. We got Fowler coming just watch him at the world juniors

What Montreal need to make the playoffs next year :

- A RW who can play on the 1st line
- A LW who can play on the 2nd line
- Two centermans for our 3rd and our 4th line (Monahan can be one of them, but not Dvorack)
- Another experimented RD
- A 2nd goalie who can make the jon (Primeau can be them, but he really need mores games to be consistent)

Personally, I don't see Nashville doing that, because they don't want to start a rebuild.
