I put ranta because Carolina will have to get rid of him too. Montreal is doing them that favor(a little of that is). And montreal can either flip him for a 7th round pick or just put him in the ahl. Montreal has the cap space to send him down, Carolina will want more flexibility

Pure delusion. Monahan isn’t a target for the Canes, and nobody is going to give anything of big value for him. Canes aren’t moving the first or Necas unless they are going after Caufield, cause frankly, pretty much nothing else on the roster is really worth that.

Canes have some big signatures to do this summer.
Not sure canes can afford him.

I'm not saying this is a good trade (I'd avoid retaining on Allen if I could). But Ranta can be burried in the AHL. For the right value, I don't think Hughes would mind sending a vet goalie he didn't sign to the minors.

i dissagree, we dont need to bury goalies. bury your own, montreal has young goaliers of their own they are developping.

the rights to necas might be worth something

that value is negated by a having to lose a roster spot, a contract slot, and some cap.
