If it was 5-6 years time like 8m or just under , sure
I love Lindholm and he would fit in here
Plus we could try luring Toffoli home

Caufield-Lindholm-Tofolli
Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Dach

That sounds super exciting to me

Realistically until the habs get a better idea of what the pick is worth its as untouchable as the habs own 1sts. Until it isnt they are valuaing it as a top 5 pick

Cause you still get a high second round draft pick and lindholm for sure resigns with you guys obviously don’t have to get in a bidding war with other teams feels like a no brainer to me but who knows

I am not saying we should go get him this summer... but why I would give a 1st pick for him if I am not a pretender.

Is there no trade protection on the pick at all?

Theres a myriad of conditions but in a nutshell if the panthers finish bottom 10 this year or next then the habs get the flames pick only top one protected.

So there is a scenario where the habs get the 2025 2nd overall pick from the trade

Or 1st overall in 2026 iirc.

Either way, not interested in signing a 30 year old to a legacy contract (8x8ish) before even seeing how they fit in.
