I figure a Stamkos contract would look more like the Marleau deal which works out to 3@7.3 in today's money

Tampa Bay can probably afford to pay Stammer $6m per year if he's willing to take that.

Can't help but think that's just not enough to get Stammer.

It's less than what Giroux got for instance after becoming UFA, and the situation in which he'd end up going to a Canadian hometown team from a tax haven contender would be quite similar.

Think he should get at least $7,5M x 3 from the Leafs, especially with the cap increase.
