Zero chance in hell Ottawa even remotely considers that.

Not an Ottawa or Philly fan, but I'd do the deal if I was Ottawa. A good prospect is in there, plus good picks and the CAP space. Ottawa is a good young team but clearly not ready to contend for a cup. They have time and likely Giroux would not be part of that given his age. Lots of good UFA's available in the summer if thats what they want, plus Pinto is back and now you would have the money to pay him withouot moving out any of the other young players.

if Ottawa looks like they are not going to get a sniff @ the post season and Giroux wants to go back then they should honor that. It is a good offer.
He has been a good veteran stabilizer in Ottawa but he deserves to play in the playoffs.

This is under the context that everything pretty much remains the same going into the TDL (OTT is 6th worst in the NHL right now). PHI won't be a buyer anyways but this is pretty much what he was traded for to FLA and Samu has played well down in the AHL.

Giroux is the one player Ottawa can never trade, plus he has an NMC.

Yeah but there's been zero indication that Giroux wants to go back.

It's not a realistic trade, Danny Briere and Keith Jones have recently said they are not going to deviate from the pathway, even if they continue to win. It is a more of "what-if" the Flyers are still in the hunt and OTT is totally out of it. Would this be a fair trade for Giroux? Wanted to get some thoughts on how people would feel PHI would feel. I'd also imagine PHI is probably one of the only places he'd waive, if he'd even waive at all.
