I think Xhekaj is gonna be a buy high option for teams. Look at Romanov a couple years ago, got a 13th overall pick, and if Xhekaj gets his penalties in order, he can definitely be better than Romanov - his puck moving and physicality is very good.
Monahan for Goodrow, Garand, and a 1st probably makes sense though - Garand to dump Goodrow, 1st for Monahan (MTL could add like a 4th maybe as well). However I don't see why Monahan makes sense for NYR - they have enough players:

Kreider-Zib-Laf
Panarin-Trocheck-Kakko
Cuylle-Chytil-Monahan
Vesey-Bonino-Pitlick/Wheeler

If the rangers want Monahan, they’ll only trade away picks. They have no need for Xhekaj

Well chytil and Kakko are questionable so no one knows how they’ll be come playoff time. Adding goodrow and prospects isn’t happening, so it’ll be picks for Monahan

Here's how I would break it down
Monahan for a 1st. fair deal IMO
Xhekaj for McConnell + 4th + 5th, I think it's close-ish but, I don't really see why either team makes the trade. NYR have 4 LHD ahead of him (depends how you feel about Jones) 3 of which are RFAs and MTL likes Xhekaj, Habs fans love him, he's getting lost a little in the shuffle and is in the AHL now but his potential is still there
That leaves Garand + Goodrow to the Habs to eat his contract, hard to judge if it's fair. Great WJC and Junior season 2yrs ago, decent 1st rpo season and slight improvement this year. Habs might want him but, they have just drafted Fowler who looks very promising so not a need. I'd say to bury Goodrow's contract it would take 4 3rd rounders in value (1 for every season) I'm not sure Garand covers that value

All this to say MTL probably declines but, it's not super far off

This trade is too complicated to make for a TDL trade. Drury will just trade away picks and prospects who have no future with the organization for middle 6 depth

romanov was playing top pair that year and xhekaj is now in the ahl. he was also playing thirpair only while he was up.

we would be selling high on romanov and low on xhekaj. i know grits and phisicality can raise his value, but the value wont be near what we got for romanov.

I don't really see the point of this for Montreal other than the 1st. Montreal doesn't really need another goalie prospect unless its a true blue chip prospect (Garand is a good goalie prospect, but he isn't that), McConnell-Barker is decent prospect, but doesn't really move the needle for Montreal's needs and Goodrow is both a negative value contract and not really a guy Montreal needs.

Montreal would probably prefer to use Xhekaj (if they decide to trade him, which I'm skeptical of) as part of a trade to get a piece they really need and (if healthy) will likely trade Monahan (if healthy) for the best offer they receive, unless the offers are poor enough that Montreal would consider trying to re-sign Monahan. I think Montreal probably needs to get at least a late 1st to mid 2nd as part of the trade to not consider trying to re-sign him.

yea as i said it was more of a possible starting point. the reason for monahan is he can play 1st rw or 3rd center with chytil unknown. at best replacing wheeler
