Trading Byram to still not have a 2c isnt a direction I can see the Avs going. Probably wouldn't trade him for any 2c... unless....

You might get Jenner for that discount if no other team in the league decides they want a faceoff machine on a cheap contract with leadership qualities whose current team has no motivation to trade, but you definitely don't get the retention or the pick with him.

Also, it's probably not Columbus's 2024 second going to Philly. That pick is conditional and CBJ can choose whether it's '24 or '25. As the 24 pick will likely be 33-36, unlikely they won't defer the condition to 2025.

The 2nd gets the approximately $5.625M retained over the rest of this year and the next two. Swapping a late 1st for a late 3rd doesn't get you close to a player that 1) scores goals and wins faceoffs like it's his only job, 2) is a legit top-6 option now making $1.875 for 2.5 years for you, 3) his current team has no motivation to trade, and 4) is a super desirable option for literally any contender. That offer gets beat by at least 16 other teams.
