Is it time to give ty smith another shot

Created by: DNP1932

Description
It seems ty smith is doing well in the AHL our 3rd pairing has had so many different pairings, why not give him a chance at this point if you’re going to try everything.

I’d also be interested to see pitlick in the lineup could bring some scoring, but with the drawback of less defense.

Not sure of the thoughts on this, i know people have like Ludvig including the coaching staff but if they try POJ on the bottom pair why not give ty smith a chance.

I feel like a Smith-Ludvig pairing could work. I would like to give him a chance.
I also think Pitlick deserves a shot.. surprised Gruden, Harkins & Johnstone got chances before Pitlick.

Yeah, pitlick is interesting to me, hes doing well in the AHL just worry about his defensive metrics, they are very bad, but who knows.

Could do well next to Eller if anything. Might as well give him a shot tbh.

Ty Smith is one of those guys that's too good for the AHL but not good enough for the NHL. I don't think he should get a shot over POJ or Ruhwedel.

Why? POJ has shown he hasn’t taken another step, ty smith is currently having a really good season in the AHL, hes only 5 points shy of totals last year with 14 less games.

POJ doesn't put up the points or look the best when he's on the ice, but he always has good all-around metrics. No point in taking him out for Smith.

He really looked bad in some games, specifically in the sharks game earlier. I mean i get it but at this point wouldn’t mind seeing him get another shot, or i guess let his AHL season play out and use him as a trade asset, but not sure how much value he will really have unless he gets nhl time.

Agree with this. IF smith gets a chance it's with Ludvig. There isn't a reason right now for Ludvig to be out of the line up imo.

I'd love to see Pitlick at 4C with Acciari slotting to the wing (where i think he's better).

Cap once fully healthy is tough tho.

We would actually be able to afford both in my lineup. If Puustinen stays and we move on from someone like DOC, we have the cap space to accommodate Pitlick when healthy.

I mean I wouldn't be against it, I just don't see how it happens without injuries. Pettersson and Graves are obviously set as the top 2 LHD - and POJ is better than Smith. Ludvig has played decently well and they seem to like him too - so he's also above Smith. If we need another defenseman called up due to injury - I would like to see Smith over Shea though.

I hope Puljujarvi makes the team and works out (been quiet since bringing him in).

I think i made an ACGM that had something like

Jake-Sid-Puljujarvi
Smith-G-Puust
Rak-Eller-Rust
Doc-Pitlick-Acciari

It was tight, may have been slightly over.
