Description

More or less not looking deep into values, just looking at players to offload as well as targeting younger players potentially looking for a change of scenery

Going to be an interesting rest of the year to be a Blues fan

Would like to get rid of Krug as well, but that may need to be an offseason move. Hopefully can keep playing better and increase trade value.. maybe Philly would want him still and he waives

Other players (personally) I'd be taking offers on would be Krug, Faulk, and Hayes. But not as much of a pressing need to get rid of them. Can wait until the offseason.

Hayes is the interesting one. Decent cap hit but a few more years. Acquired for cheap so other teams would hope to get him for cheap. He's a good stop gap for another year or two while some of these guys in the pipelines develop, then can ship retained for a decent haul if teams are interested in a solid 2/3C for cheap

I have no interest in bringing back Kapanen. Was never a fan of his game. (I know you said any team, I just don't think Toronto is the right fit).

Mainly picked Kap to TOR for that connection and potential familiarity but yeah, can be any team. Mainly just hoping for a 3rd round pick in return for him.

I honestly like his game. If he would sign something like a 2x2.5 I'd be all over that. Just don't want longer term to block some of these younger guys and keep lower cap for Kap

Don't see them trading for a defenseman unless it's a tangible upgrade (ie. Hanifin) or a 7th dman. Scandella making too much $

I'd have to agree he declines. He's really just added to make the cap work and so the Blues don't have to retain for a few years. Don't even want him tbh but with it expiring at the end of the year, why not.

Plus if he declines, the Blues could possibly retain some money but it would require a pretty decent pick or prospect to make that happen, depending on the amount.

TOR fans will yap that "oh he's going to blow your future" but he was pretty straight forward coming into Pittsburgh that his goal is to try to continue to contend while also trying to start working on the future (the pens havent had assets for years because of the cup runs which obviously is worth it but they do need to work on that now).

So i don't see major moves for the pens this year personally unless someone with a large cap hit goes to LTIR for the season (aka pull a Stone or Kuch)

Carter and his wife bought a new house in Pittsburgh, they've said once he's done they're staying in Pittsburgh as well so there is literally no chance he waives lol.
