Colorado does not need Guentzel, they need a 2C. Any team that wants Guentzel needs 50% retained salary.

Pens don’t need Faksa for Pettersson. At least we need to get Stankoven or/and Bourque from Dallas, even with 50% Pettersson‘s salary retention.

For Nedeljkovic we should get a better return without another goalie

Granato and Adams want to keep Levi up. So while not bad, the Sabres just won't do it

HAHAHAHA.. you want Byram.. AND A 1st? .. FOR GUENTZEL?

You'd be adding just to get Byram, nevermind a 1st too. Pending UFA ain't getting you a cost controlled top4D .

Easy no for the Avs. They need a 2C. Guentzel isn't one.

So your position that a top 4 LHD isn't worth a 1st line LW?

Can you back up that claim with evidence?

Keep in mind here is where Guentzel is ranked in expected goals for the last 3 years. The first number is among forwards and the second is among wingers:

2023: 5th / 3rd
2022: 23rd / 11th
2021: 8th / 4th

Now the highest ranking Col forward and left winger in the same time frame:
2023: 8th
2022: 20th / 84th
2021: 35th

Nichushkin is currently the top LW on Col. He has 4/10/14 as his stat line 5v5, while Guentzel has 9/14/23.

You can argue you would rather not trade a young defenseman with a lot of promise for a pending UFA but the talent and stats are heavily in Guentzel's corner. And you cannot argue that Guentzel wouldn't be the top line LW for Col tomorrow if he were on their team.

Byram is a cost controlled 22 year old top 4 D. Guentzel is a 29 year old pending UFA winger. The value isn’t there. When has that type of trade ever happened? And then you add a 1st round pick coming from Colorado. What?!

You aren’t gonna find anyone here that tells you Guentzel is bad. The dude is awesome. But that value doesn’t make sense.

Also, it doesn’t really make sense to compare Guentzel (a goal scoring top line winger) to Nichuskin (a two way guy that plays heavy PK and defensive minutes). Of course Guentzel scores more! Nuke plays a support role on a line with MacKinnon and Rantanen. I wonder how someone like Guentzel would mesh with those two.

Not to mention that Colorado’s biggest area of need is C depth, not top line rental wings.
