When the primary asset in a trade for a starting goaltender with term and two proven NHL forwards is Chase Stillman (admittedly, a very nice A prospect at a position of need for Anaheim), the rest of the package has to be more than a B prospect, two 29-year-old bottom-6 forwards and a 31-year-old UFA third-pairing defenseman, plus a future second.

Take out John Gibson and the result looks a lot like the Rickard Rakell trade (in which Anaheim took back some deadwood everyone knew wasn't going to stick), which the Ducks might want to replicate. But that's how far you are from proper value for Anaheim.

That's a laughably bad offer for Quinn Hughes. Allvin has put in major work to fix our defence by signing Cole and Soucy and trading for Hronek and Zadorov. He's also done a ton of work to fix the logjam of wingers that we have. The idea that he'd trade Hughes for Meier, destroying our defence again and recreating our major winger logjam is terrible. He'd be undoing all of the work he's done over the past year to bring the Canucks from the bottom of the league to 1st.

If you want Hughes, you're gonna have to wait until free agency and hope you can convince him to leave Vancouver for you. If the Canucks were to deal Quinn (which they won't) think of what you'd want for Jack. That's the minimum the Canucks are gonna want for Quinn, probably even more to convince them to move a top 3 defenceman in the league. Would you deal Jack for Boeser, Silovs, Irwin, 2025 1st and 2026 2nd? I'd have to guess not since that's a criminal underpay, but I'd argue that package is worth a lot more than the one you're offering for Quinn given that Boeser has been a far better player than Meier this season.
