The preds can resign him easily, plus the oreilly connection.
Johansens dead cap comes off the books during the 2025-26 season. Duchenes dead cap goes from six mil to one and a half the season after that. I would say depending on this season, if the preds are good, Marner could want to go there. It has an amazing home atmosphere and following, but it doesn’t have the harsh Toronto media following. Say Marner asks for 11 million. You can get seven of that from johansens dead cap and nyqvists money.
The Preds also loves Finns, hence Kapanen, who can bring speed and enthusiasm, and Teravainen. I don’t exactly know what Novak will be asking for, but I highly doubt it is much more or less than 4.25. I love Nick Seeler, and I feel like Preds fans will too. He hits, he fights, and he isn’t a defensive liability. If the Preds don’t do very well, I would bet they will trade Saros for the Oilers soul, but this is depending on the Preds being at least in the race this season.

I’m not sure where all these Marner trade posts are coming from but
1) he’s not being traded. He’ll only leave via free agency IF he leaves at all
2) IF there was a trade, this ain’t it. It takes at least 1 star, young player going back to Toronto as the main part of the deal and frankly Nashville doesn’t have that piece at all.

Think a similar price to what Jack Eichel got for Buffalo

Edit: just saw the retention.. that makes it 2 young star players or a young star player and the teams top prospect.. Nashville doesn’t have the pieces. The teams don’t line up very well for a trade at all

Marner has a full NTC.

Marner will leave as a UFA. Unless the Leafs trade Nylander or lose him to free agency first.

Yeah Marner isn't leaving his hometown of Toronto, Let alone waiving for a worse Nashville team than Toronto. And that offer doesn't even get you a full value Marner let alone $4,000,000 being retained.
