Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
MTL
  1. Mittelstadt, Casey
Additional Details:
What is the cost for Mitts? I know he is playing like a top 6 forward as a 3C but his low faceoff numbers and the depth of the Sabres forward group are keeping him pinned on the 3rd line. Montreal could really use a guy like him as our 2C or 2LW and a line composed of Newhook-Middelstadt-Dach could be a really good complimentary line to Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky. This is also the type of move Hughes has been making since coming over to the Habs.

I figure a top 5 protected 1st is a good starting point but what else. Prospects like Hutson, Reinbacher, Mesar and Beck are likely off the table since the 1st is likely to be in the 6-10 range. Also guys like Guhle, Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky and Montembeault aren't going to be moved.
BUF
  1. Farrell, Sean
  2. Kovacevic, Johnathan
  3. 2024 1st round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Top 5 protected

Is this enough, if not what?

Picks and prospects are the least of Buffalo's interest. If they move Mitts, it's for someone that helps now

Can’t see Montreal trading their first round pick to Buffalo.
I rather have Montreal keep their first round pick.

Ok, fair so who would you target then Allen/Savard/Kovacevic + Monahan?

So would I but Middelstadt is a good young forward with high offense capabilities, si he would be worth the gamble

I don't think MTL has anything. Kovacevic would be ok, but Mitts has a lot more value than him. No interest in Allen or Monohan, Savard is about the same as Kovacevic

To be fair here if you are moving Mitts, someone will need to replace him as 3C and Monahan would be a good fit there with his low cap hit, decent offense and veteran experience. Also Monahan in the playoffs has really impressive numbers

It isn't in BUF interest to weakens their center line when they are lloking to get to the next step (playoffs participation). Monahan isnt a good replacement neither since they are out of the race this year and he's a UFA.

If you are looking at an available player similar to Mittelstadt, Dube in Calgary might not be as interesting, but he's also a 25 y.o. center/winger with untapped potential. And CGY would be more open to sell him for futures IMO.
