Description
Let’s say Myers get moved but for who? Where to? I think there are teams that would be willing to take him or flip him somewhere. He’s been decent this year actually but then again it could just be the defensive system that he fits. Cause if the team really wants a top 4 defencemen on the right side then Myers definitely has to go. And then we got Juulsen who has been really great this season so far. He brings the defence really well, physicality, speed. He’s really shown great improvements as an NHL level defencemen. Love to see him stay as our 3rd pair RHD. Plus Soucy will come back at some point as well. Personally I don’t think we really need that change on the blueline.

Up and down the lineup with forwards I don’t think anything needs to change. As far as I’m concerned we are heavily stacked and recently we’ve had one of the best third lines. Reminds me little bit of Pittsburghs third line of ZAR-Blueger-Tanev. Dakota plays a physical game like ZAR and plays well on both ends. Well we got Blueger that plays like Blueger. And then the heart and hustle of Garland that matches Tanev. Except for the physicality of Tanev. Garland has more offensive talent.

I don’t think we’d really see the Canucks buy that much at the deadline. The thing I could see them doing is acquiring more depth players.

Canucks should be selling. High PDO team will crash hard in the playoffs if not earlier.

Canucks should buy.

You only get so many years where everything clicks. Try to capitalize on that.

In your opinion, name a player Canucks should acquire at the Trade Deadline?

Top 4 defensemen will be a premium this year. Not too many teams that need to sell their players and alot of what will be available will be depth options. I think they should try adding a player like Carrier, young enough to be a player they can keep long term. Has the skillset to be a really good player but hasn't done so much that he should be expensive to acquire. I think they should keep Myers, could be a good player to have for the playoffs. If they could find a cheap middle 6 wing, depending how Hoglander plays, might be worth while as well.

If Kuzmenko ends up being moved I think we go for a top 6 winger. Guentzel is the first name that comes to mind

Yes because the #1 team in the league should be selling. If you truly were a former NHL executive (highly unlikely), I see why it’s former and not current
remowilliams and audiodave liked this.

I think The Canucks will be buyers. Probably just depth players on expiring contracts like Lyubushkin or Boyd. I don't see them moving draft picks higher than a 3rd.

Kuzmenko and Guentzel are not going anywhere.
They both deserve to play in their respective teams.

Tocchet and Rutherford don’t seem pleased with Kuzmenko. There’s a definite possibility he’s moved

Things could change in 2024.
Hopefully 2024 is the year Kuzmenko will improve, and besides he didn’t ask for a trade.
Guentzel doesn’t want to leave Pittsburgh.

If there’s a RHD to target it has to be Tanev honestly. To have him on our blueline feels like the only right move. Looking up and down the lineup there’s no real improvements to be made honestly. I can see us acquiring rentals for low prices.

Since Carson Soucy is coming back to the lineup, Vancouver will get roughly more than $1M in cap space. If I was a Canuck GM, I would get a RHD like Jaden Chatfield from the Carolina Hurricanes, for example. Plus, finding a top 6 forward can be tough and hard to find in my opinion.

As long as they remain in the top 6 or 8 in the league, I see no reason why management won't stay aggressive. Mikheyev and Hoglander are borderline top 6 wingers as it is, and with Kuzmenko having a hard time staying out of Tocchet's dog house, I'd expect the next big piece to a top 6 winger. I think Guentzel is more likely to be a summer target, and I still believe that Necas is at or near the top of their wish list.

Any add on the blueline now would be strictly a depth add.

Now having said all of that, I think it's important to note that Rutherford did voice his concerns about messing with the chemistry of the current group. But. I still expect them to be aggressive if they are in contention. The window only stays open for so long.

Oh, and y'all can take that PDO and stick it somewhere soft and squishy.
