Lets say that EP40 doesn't want to sign in Vancouver for a reason...Or VAN doesn't want to pay the price.

Could the habs offer a package to entice them to sell EP to them?

No, he hasn't, we're keeping him short of an outstanding offer like Slafkovsky + Reinbacher.

That offer isn't even close for Trevor Zegras.

And Stamkos isn't wasting his time on a beginning rebuild Montreal team.

No, Trevor Zegras is still both a fan and a front-office favorite, so the coach will keep putting him out there on the first line.

Wtf Slafkovsky+Reinbacher, Slafkovsky will be 2 times better than Zegras in his prime and Reinbacher is gonna be a 1st pair defenseman. They are not worth a bozo who is doing a couple of Michigan and can't play defense

Yeah, you clearly watch him play.....

Slaf can't score and Reinhacher was also a reach. Slaf should have gone 5th in a weak draft and Reinhacher should have gone 15th. The fact that Montreal drafted poorly doesn't change reality.

Why would Minnesota, a team with: MAF, Gus, and a great prospect in Wallstedt as well as 14M in dead cap want a 3.85M backup goalie?

Slaf can't score .

I analyze couple of game of Zegras because I was wondering if he was that good and for real, his defensive play was his big weakness and I don't know, I feel like he didn't play with his hearth.
Since the start of December, Slafkovsky is on a whole other level go check his stat but not just his stat, how he play. He is by far the best player in Montreal. Big player like Byfield, Lafrenière, Slafkovsky is longer to develop.

Depending on what games you watched, there is a more than decent chance Zegras was nursing the injury that shelved him for something like 20 games. Not only that but the fancy stats indicate that he's been playing some of the best defensive hockey of his career and the eye test shows him flashing some defensive ability that you just didn't see years prior. So he's more than just flashy, flippy-puck guy.

I'll admit I don't watch much Canadiens hockey, but if Slafkovsky has been tearing it up since the start of December it leaves me uncomfortable with how bad he was before then, because the counting stats now are just ok. Now if there is some exigent circumstance to explain that I'm willing to conced to it. If not, the fact he's big isn't enough (for me) to overlook the idea of his career being one large, barf enducing, roller-coaster ride.

Zegras has more hockey ability in his right arm than Slafkovsky has in his entire body. Slafkovsky is bigger and plays grittier. If Slafkovsky played in Anaheim the hockey world would have forgotten who he was by now (no offense Anaheim fans, not taking a shot at you, we all know we hear an inordinate amount about Montreal and Toronto players/prospects online).

So Zegras is never going to win a Selkie, I don't need him to if he's going to put up 80-100 points every year throughout his prime. He's also working on his defense, and is significantly improved this season. His 12 game slump? Was trying to play through an injury, he's also had points in every game since he returned.

Slaf has 22 points across his first 72 games. Even Laf did that in 52 games. He's a European player, if he was going to take longer to develop, he should have been sent to Laval for a few seasons and gotten an ELC slide, but instead he was rushed to the NHL and his development has been mishandled because it was assumed he would be an immediate difference maker and he's not. And what upside are you looking at, Laf? Yeah 50 point seasons, real impact player for a 1OA.

Look through the last 10 drafts at the big guys that went in the top 5 picks. Most of them flamed out from Star talent and are just run if the mill top 6 guys putting up ~50 pts a season, or worse are bottom 6 to no longer active. Those who have risen to the point of Franchise players showed a scoring knack early on, and Slaf just isn't. So he'll project to be what, middle 6 winger with second line upside? Meanwhile Zegras is going to be PPG+. Now factor in that Reinbacher is taking a step back this season when he should be strongly taking a step forward. Both of them were reaches, and if I'm Anaheim, I'm risking being able to get them both close enough to their ceilings that it looks like we won the trade for sending our an all-star level center.
