Win-Win

Description
Lately, Alex Turcotte has been delivering his best performances since joining the pros (0.87 pts/game).

Since the trade that brought Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Kings and the emergence of Byfield, his place within the Kings' organization is becoming increasingly limited. With his recent performances, it would be useful for Los Angeles to trade the young center for a left-handed defenseman who could help this Stanley Cup-aspiring team. Let's add Jake Allen to the trade since several analysts admit that the Kings are in search of another goalie to support Cam Talbot.

In my opinion, this trade would be a win-win for both teams and seems to work with the LAK cap space. Also, Turcotte and Caufield are very close friends. Perhaps the Montreal environment would be preferable for him, more resourceful (aka Adam Nicholas) and stimulating.

What do you guys think?

The Kings cap space is a little deceptive right now because Arvidsson is on LTIR. He is expected back sometime in February or March (ie well before the playoffs), so LA can't afford to bring in nearly 4.5mil in cap.

All that being said, Jordan Harris and Jake Allen ain't it, and the Kings aren't going to give up on Turcotte when his health is finally allowing him to show why they drafted him 5th to begin with.

Where is the win for LA, their defense is ready with Clarke in waiting and Allen has fallen back to earth to be a replacement in goal. To me this is Montreal clearing cap space and getting young assets.

Kings fans are going to rant and rave about their star studded Turcotte as if he hasn't been a dud.

But, honestly, what is Turcotte's spot in a stacked lineup like the Kings? Just curious to get your POV.
Plus, he'll be RFA at the end of the season, teams could be interested in making an offer that Kings won't be able to match.

I think if Turcotte earns a spot with LA, it will be at left wing. Up until Kaliyev was scratched last game, Laferierre was playing on the third line left wing despite being a right-hander. I expect that at some point, Laferierre will run out of gas since it's his first pro season. From there, I expect a Turcotte call-up. That'd be 3rd line with one of PLD or Danault as his center.

Not sure why any team would risk the ire of an organization due to an offer sheet when Turcotte really hasn't proven anything at the professional level until this year. He's one of my favorite prospects, but the fact of the matter is that he's been hurt more than he's played. And that scares off a lot of teams. In short, I'm not worried about an offer sheet.
