They need to trade Marner they can not win without that, they don't have the prospect pool to support these high contracts. Toronto is just trying to maintain the ticket sales..

True by its hard to see who'll trade a boatload of NOW for him as a expiring UFA who wants close to 14mil or more player (currently) sturggling. (especially as macdavid and draisaitl might hit UFA), Its not that they wont get a good package but can the leafs get a good enough package that maintains their contender status and not futures?

I'm always amazed on CapFriendly about two things. 1. The Leafs HAVE to sign their upcoming UFAs. 2. The Leafs HAVE to trade their upcoming UFAs. The Leafs are the only team in the league it seems that have these conditions.
