They paid a 1st and 2-2nd's, they wont move him for anything less than that.

What they paid for him kinda meaningless.

The package offered is worth more than a 1st and two seconds. Sens got a decision to make, trade Chychrun to a team that can use for two playoffs, or the Sens keep him this season and miss the playoffs, and then have for one UFA season.

I’m not saying Timmins for a 5th is completely out of the question but I can only see it following up another trade that makes it a necessity.

Niemela is not the type of defenseman the Sens are looking for at the moment. The 3rd and 5th doesn't tip the scale packaged with a late 1st and Liljegren.

I'm sorry to say this, the Leafs don't have movable assets to land Chychrun at the moment without a drastic overpay.

He'll be part of the Sens restructure as a top 4 D-man on the left side with Sanderson.

How is 1 already proven nhl defenseman, one of the leafs best prospects and 3 picks not enough, the 5th could be moved up to a 4th

It might be just, just enough ... sure. It's a reasonable offer, I won't argue with that because I like Niemela.

It's not the right deal for the Sens at the moment. I think they could get more to be honest.
