Can Guentzel be more than a rental

Description
On 2nd thought maybe just spend it on defence. Also considering OEL buyout which jumps another 2 mill next year is pretty rough.

    Easy pass for Canucks.
Petey and Kuzy are not available.
    No thanks.

    It’s the defender Pettersson.
Any prospect 1st 2nd and Kuzmenko. Gonna be the going value if Guentzel is available, probably more if it’s a bidding war. Kuzmenko will be a redemption project for next year and could be flipped if Pitts is still not playoff bound next year.

If they want to keep Guentzel around, they will need to offer him an 8-year deal, and probably at least 9M. He would easily be able to get 9MX7 in free agency and with a team with a better tax situation than Vancouver.

Pettersson is probably going to cost 12M+ to retain, likely 12.5M+ even if it's just on a 5 or 6-year deal.

Probably true, plus I think Canucks probably would be better off spending it on the defence anyways. You just hate to see the rentals walk to FA. So much better if you can get them resigned as well.

Guess prices are going up would say Horvat's trade last year would be a fair comparison (yes Guentzel is better offensively but not a Center nor as good defensively) maybe something small on salary going back (Kuzmenko) 1st and A- prospect maybe a lesser pick as then a 2nd. But yeah Canucks shouldn’t trade D-Petey I'd rather move Raty over him. I think D-Petey keeps on this way he's going to turn into a player like Ohlund for us. Which having a potential 4 of Hughes, Hronek, D-Petey, and Willander could be a very good d core in the future.

I have the feeling, if Guentzel gets moved, your package will be about what he gets traded for.
