Or we could just not pay Husso 6.4 million.

We'd rather hang onto Gibson if that's the return, as it barely pays for the retention.

A 4th is an underpayment for Copp imo but I'm not sure Chicago is the right fit. Depends on who they think would be available for them in free agency.

Maybe if the Hawks fail to get their targets in free agency they would choose this type of path.

I don't think Gibson is the solution. He's one of those goalies that everyone has made excuse after excuse for. Is he an upgrade? Probably. Would ANA do the deal? No. Should DET pay up for him? NO

Not crazy about that 3rd year on Copp's deal, but the Hawks probably consider this.

Depending on how FA plays out, the Hawks may have an interest in Copp but I would decline for the time being given that hi cap hit of $5.625 for three season is substantial for the modest level of contribution he provides. In a perfect world Copp is a 3rd liner but he is making second line money.

TK’s value for the flyers is too high for them to trade after the Gauthier trade, especially if we are downgrading and taking a prospect we don’t need because we just got Drysdale
