I just said this on another dudes post lol but, why do guys on ACGM still want Peeke in their top4? This dude is getting recycled in and out of an injured CBJ defense, kind of like an 8th defenseman, how is he the answer for Buffalo's top pair?

I don't have qualified response. Honestly? I love his size and hope he would break thru.

he's basically a swap for Jokiharju. Not what i would have classified as an "answer". If this trade happened, Buffalo would for sure try him up top first.

Columbus declines. That's just not compelling for KJ. Krebs is having a poor season and Savoie is still probably two years from contributing anything. Kent Johnson is already one of the three best players on the team.

Also: Peeke is not a top-4 defenseman and you'll be very disappointed if that's what you expect

Could he breakout, sure technically athletes enter their prime at around 27 and maybe playing with Dahlin help him only focus on defense and he thrives but, it's super unlikely and Jokiharju despite the size is better and younger.

Going after Kent Johnson is probably a bit too ambitious. If you swap for Cole Sillinger instead Columbus will probably do it. Of course you don’t need to pay as much if you’re not getting Johnson. I agree that Peeke doesn’t really solve our problems, might as well keep Jokiharju instead. So create a package for Texier and Sillinger around Krebs, that would be a step in the right direction.

Weirdly, I think Sillinger is less available than KJ from Columbus's point of view. He's a less valuable trade piece, but more valuable to the team. He's been the backbone of the PK this season (which before Kuraly and Jenner got hurt at basically the same time was top five in the league), and has gelled perfectly on a line with the Russians. There is a very clear spot for him at 2C or 3C for the forseeable future, while KJ's future with the team is a lot more murky. Don't like this package for KJ, but I'd be far more willing to part with him than Sillinger.
