Maybe on pure value it's close, but more picks aren't appealing to the Jackets when it's Jenner in the trade. They need a player that actually has tangible value to add to their upcoming core and not lottery tickets. I'll be very surprised if picks are the bulk of the return if/when Boone is dealt.

Agreed, Columbus is in a tough spot. Jenner, Laine, and Roslovic will all be gone soon as they age out of the new core coming. Columbus doesn't have much of a choice but to reload and rebuild.

I whole heartedly disagree. Trying to continue to build through the draft only pushes the timeline back. They should be trying to add 19-24 year old guys to bolster Fantilli, Jiricek, KJ, Marchenko, Chinakhov, Voronkov, Werenski, Mateychuk, Svozil, Dumais, Sillinger, and Brindley. If they add a couple guys to that group through their first this year and by trading Boone and Laine for NHL ready guys that gives them ~15 solid young NHLers to grow with in addition to their other guys who are still developing too. They have been rated one of the top prospect pools for the last few years for a reason.

If you're counting on the rest of those guys to move your needle, you're not gonna like the outcome. Kent looks like Zegras right now (not a compliment). Sillinger is fine. The rest of these guys (maybe i missed someone) look like placeholders.

You don't even know who the majority of them are. You're also very clueless if you're referring to guys like Jiricek and Mateychuk as placeholders lol. They're two of the best defensive prospects in the league.

remember our first rounder went from top 10 to bottom 10 in the last 3 months. lot less value in our first than we're used to.
