Not a chance. That Campbell contract is a massive long term salary dump from Edmonton to CBJ. Trying to get retention on top of that is a long stretch.

i commented about his deal, not how he's playing. we all know merzlikins is nhl caliber goalie and his numbers aren't that bad compared to campbell. i meant his contract is worse because he's making 400k more and at 5.4M for 4 more years, very few teams can take on this deal.

That's 100% right, can't argue that. "Worse deal" inherently implies performance context, though (and you can't really separate the two). Panarin makes about 1.15M more than Huberdeau, but I wouldn't call it a "worse deal". That's where you're tripping us up.
