I am not a big fan of trading anymore 1sts, might still lose this year 1st round pick too with conditions. 14 players on this team/ IR were 1st round picks and 6 that were 2nd round picks; the Devils are going to need promising young players on rookie contracts in the coming years.

Right now? Probably not. I like the collection of players though.

I think it’s either one of two paths:

1. Keep Toffoli, keep the 1st, set internal cap of $81.5m without putting anyone on LTIR. Add cheap pieces. Don’t spend future assets or future cap. Save ammo for big move for dman or goalie acquisition over the summer.

2. Put Dougie on LTIR, accept a high carryover into next year, and spend this years cap as an asset to add pieces, get a jump on summer by adding that next big piece now (probably a dman since there will be more worthwhile ones available).
