You prefer 57 points in 115 games (.49/g) to 146 pts in 200 (.73/g)? Z almost has more goals than Kent has points. Very curious about this pov

KJ is a full year younger and has only played 1.5 NHL seasons. Zegras is essentially a 3.5 year vet. It's too early to compare NHL point totals.

Zegras is a great player, I'd love to see CBJ trade for him if he's available, but the regression and injuries are concerning. Their ceilings should be about the same (PPG to 100+ points?) but it's just too early to swap them IMO.

Just a preference. Zegras is better right now but if you look at points per 60 the numbers are very similar. Zegras has been playing top line minutes almost his whole career. They are both very similar players but I’m hoping the jackets will lock down Kent long term on a better contract than what zegras has

I guess that’s my point. 1 year or so apart isnt much. Comparing their points at the same level of experience, Z had 74pts in his first 1.5 seasons across 99 games. It’s totally too early to definitively say anything, but sample sizes over 100 games aren’t nothing, and they pretty clearly favor Z so I guess I was just surprised that someone would defijitively prefer KJ straight up.

As for injuries, Z played 156 of 164 games across the last 2 years. Injuries hit everyone sometimes, but his history is not one suggesting he’s an injury prone player

If you’ve watched him this year his play doesn’t suggest regression. Pts over the 20 game sample do, but not his on-ice play. If anything his 200ft game has made huge improvements.

To each their own I guess!

Points regression is all I meant, and it is a small sample size this year. Zegras is still posting a 57.6% xGF% (compared to 48.5% last year, or 52.3% the year before). Arguably, yes, he's a more complete player this year. I'm just also high on KJ (53.6% xGF% two seasons ago, 46.8% last season, 51.2% this season, while averaging ~14 minutes TOI compared to Zegras' ~17 minutes, which will also land you more points).

I think they're both great players, and will be top-6 staples for a long time, but it's too early to swap them for each other.
