my thing is, does this team deserve to be upgraded. My thinking is Trev saw what dubas did with all the draft picks and doesn’t wanna make the same mistake if the team doesn’t prove if they are a Stanley Cup contender. And realistically we have improved that one bit this whole year. I think this off-season will truly be a big one for us. I really think Mitch is going to be traded this off-season. Especially if we end up losing in the first round again unlike last year, I think Trev makes a smart decision, and finally moves one of the core four

Surprised you think so, they are handing out 4mil contracts to everyone to reach the cap floor. Salary will not hurt them plus a good locker room guy and enforcer for a rebuilding team, kinda like matt Martin on the leafs in the early days.

Your outside perspective on why Foligno and Dickinson were extended couldn't be further from the truth. Which is fine, it's hard enough to know all the details of your own team let alone every other team in the NHL. But, Fliggy and Dicky earned those contracts and they are both a perfect culture fit for what CHI is trying to build.

In order to instill that culture, mindset, and attitude in prospects and young players coming up in the system you need guys around who embody that. You also don't want to take up too much roster space if you plan on providing opportunities for these kids to make the team. So inflating their contracts a little bit relieves the need to add more salary and take up more roster space.

Also, I don't buy that Reaves is a great locker room guy. But even if he is, his on ice performance does not match the kind of work ethic CHI wants to instill. He would more than likely just be bought out in the summer.
