Someone answered this before (CF itself maybe) and it basically depends on a case by case basis the wording in their contract

Yea I think BeterChiarelli answered the Brown 3.25m bonus thing

How EDM didnt just waive him before the 10th game still makes no sense

Honestly might have to include McMann with Benoit in the bring back next season category

Guys looked solid and for a 4th liner I like what he brings

You cant take him out of the lineup

Not a great PK

Leafs ignored ANA best PP guy in Vatrano leaving him all alone

Dont let that slip up again

ANA PK sucks and McMann's second goal was just a lul as Gudas stopped playing

Im honestly moving towards not wanting to move Cowan for anyone but McDavid territory

I know Jireck could be a thing but man Cowen is looking more and more interesting by the game

Already beat out Marner's 21 game Pointstreak to (23 not to shabby)

See Leafs u can beat bottom feeders when you put your mind to it no need to let them look good

Also is it funny how we have played with 5 Dman in 2 of the last 3 games but are 3-0 rn and this is also without Rielly

Cowen increasing his point streak

Minten scoring highlight reel goals almost every game

Matthews scoring Hatty's almost on a game to game basis and threatening 70 goals what a year

Interesting stat from this season

TOR vs the West: 18-5-2
TOR vs the East: 11-11-6
TOR vs Atlantic: 6-7-2

Leafs gonna have 6 straight games against Western opponents. But after that their final 22 of 23 will be against Eastern teams

Cowan should be untouchable. Top of OHL in Points per game, top 10 in +/-, top 40 in PIMs. Not a guarantee this translates to the NHL but a rare combination of skills/grit that we shouldn't move on from.

Minten will be in the lineup next year.

Also feel like the smaller wins on the team are being overlooked:
- Brodie looks like his old self playing the left. If he can maintain this then we just traded a massive liability at 1RD for a top 10 DFD at 2LD.
- Lili seems to be finding his stride again. He was great before his injury, been a bit off since but looked good with Brodie and he's over 60% on the PP replacing Rielly. Unsustainable numbers but for a guy who looked like he was on track to grow into a #2/3 earlier this year and suddenly regressed to a #5/6 after his injury this is a great sign that he could be our 2RD for the next 5+ years.
- Benoit/McCabe have incredible chemistry, exactly the pairing we've been wanting for years. Hard to play against shutdown pair.
- Holmberg, McMann both look like they should be playing in the NHL. Gives us loads of depth and the option to play around with the bottom 6 when Jarnkrok is back to make 2 effective lines.

Overall a great week for the Buds. Lots to be excited about.

Going to add that I really think Carrier is the right choice for our 1RD target. He was projected to be a top pairing guy 2/3 years ago. Smaller but analytically solid defensively and among the league leaders in blocked shots and zone entry denials. I just have a gut feeling from watching him that his mix of strong defence with the offensive skills he showed when he was younger, he could be a great partner for Rielly. I'd love size there but if he can defend and make a good first pass to transition to offence that could really complement Rielly's game.

Thoughts?

Wouldnt say untouchable as there are guys out there I would move him for

And in general Im not gonna look to much into the other stuff as this is what the Leafs do when their big guys are out they step up. Im waiting for when Rielly comes back what happens

So pumped to see Rifai making his NHL debut tonight. He's a guy I've praised at length about being a regular as early as next year. He's a big bodied, smooth skating defender with a real passion for stirring stuff up. Fans will love him

The **** happened with Rielly's appeal

Bettman could have had the answer done earlier so we could have known if he could play today vs. STL (reduce to 3). or not.

Now it kind of seems pointless as 4 games have already passed. Either way if its lowered cool but yea also wont make sense if he reduced it to 3 and he couldnt play today lul

Didn't same thing (sort of) happen with Spezza. Suspension was reduced after he already served his full time (although that was in COVID, so 2 games were ppd), so it's just a few bucks back in Mo's pocket.
They will likely announce this suspension reduction in a week or so when people are distracted.

Liligren took Gio's place with accidental deflections into own net lul

But PK be slipping a bit as of late with 3 PP goals allowed last 3 games

Still not a great way to end things. Dumb offensive zone penalty, Swimming PK, Own deflection lul

Friedman says something about Parayko and Leafs

Leafs expose him on 2 goals

Kind of funny

Now to me if u get STL to ret 2m and based on what we saw at WC he and Rielly could be interesting but also can be a gamble. Still if Rielly and Parayko were to develop that WC chemistry that would be a solid top pair especially if Parayko comes back to form

just to add, I watched him carefully in the Leafs home game. I thought he looked "stiff". Sure wouldn't want for 6.5 years till age 37.

Leafs two Marlie Dmen sure look effective tonight.

No Reilly, Giordano, no seventh and eighth Dmen , Timmins and Lagesson, never mind the dead cap in Klingberg. Just maybe the Leafs don't have the worse Dmen in the league as so many suggest.

St louis fans still getting mad if you don't pretend he is still elite

Yep now one could say sure his LD partners all suck but still hes not been what we saw in 2019

Now I would still take a chance but it would be under specific conditions as he and Rielly did have good chemistry in WC

Its a gamble but could be an interesting one as if those two could mesh again u got a pretty nice top pair
