If a team is looking at a 3rd goalie....who can move up if necessary, Reimer would be a good pick up for some team thinking they might go on an extended playoff run.

Husso was in a much different situation. He had gotten to the point where he proved he needed to be a starter. He was going to get that value on the open market.

My main point is you aren't going to pay the price of acquiring a backup when you're targeting Hofer. He's being groomed as the future primary netminder for the Blues. There are a lot of more cost effective targets if you want to search for a backup.

Also, the Blues obviously aren’t going to give away one of the best young goaltenders in the NHL for peanuts. Not that hard to understand. Husso alone got the Blues a 3rd round pick, even though he was a pending UFA. That trade sure worked out well for Detroit!
