I can't see the Canucks acquiring Monahan. The third line is basically set and if they're adding a fordward it sounds like they're gonna go after a player like Lindholm, Guentzel, etc

Pius Suter is not available, and Kovacevic won’t be a good fit for the Canucks.
If you remove Suter and Kovacevic, the first trade could make sense for both sides.

Suter and Monahan aren’t that far apart, and having Suter at 1.6M for next year is valuable for the Canucks

The gap between the two is much smaller than a 1st

I mean if MTL can get someone to double retain on Allen, it's worth a shot, considering that would be only 960K next year, basically the equivalent of a 3rd string to go with Woll and Hildeby

I guess but what are the chances they’re gonna pay someone a 3rd to retain another half of his contract? I would do that though
