Especially since they are already using 2 retention slots on multi year deals. Also the retention alone is worth most of that package, Colorado would have to add significantly here

Nope, And especially not for garbage. Too retain that much alone would cost a minimum of 3 1st round picks.

That's why I said only way avs could afford is if sharks retained. Avs don't have the cap space to take his full contract. For the 24-25 season

Now if landeskog ends up on LTIR then they can.

I think that’s OP’s point. The only way to get a cap compliant roster with a Hertl trade is either:

- Landeskog retires

OR

- $3M+ retention on Hertl
- Move Johansen without taking cap back
- Move Girard without taking cap back (and then replace with a league minimum deal)
- Fill out the rest of the roster with cheap players (Drouin at $2M, Kovalenko and Pavel on ELCs playing bottom 6 roles, backup goalie on a league min deal)

And then you don’t even have room to keep a healthy scratch on the roster all year.

As fun as it would be, there’s no universe where Hertl happens unless Landeskog never plays again.

Not to mention the fact that Rantanen will probably be looking at a $12M+ contract in 2025-2026.

I predict 11.5 12 flat.
Byram is interesting. They should do 3 yr deal 4 million. He hasn't shown really anything to give him more nor less
