ew, parayko is one of the worst contracts in the league paying that much for him and a 4th liner is lunacy, I don't like ceci but I'd rather keep him at 3x2 than CP @6.5x7 with his injury history as trajectory over the past 2 seasons has been concerning also that 6.5M will hinder drai, Bouch, holloway, mcleod and possibly foegele from all re-signing

If I was EDM, I would get a goalie like Fleury at the Trade Deadline.
Charlie Lindgren wouldn’t be a good fit for the Oilers.
I could be wrong, but I’m just saying it as an assumption.

I disagree. Parayko is a significant upgrade on Ceci. Health is a concern, that’s fair, but he’s having a good year. He looks healthy again. His cap hit is actually very fair, but the term is too long in an ideal world.

It’s about winning this year to compel these impending fa’s to re sign at a fair number to keep winning.

To re sign drai and bouch, someone probably has to get dealt anyways. Perhaps Nurse. Kane.

Foegele is a goner regardless.

Big decisions are coming. Now is not the time to be gun-shy.

That’s fair, flower would be great. Cap hit may be an issue in the context of trying to add a good fwd or dman as well. Getting lindgren at min wage for next year helps.

It’s stu’s net.

Of course he’s an upgrade on Ceci. It’s Cody Ceci tears of joy .

In any case, I like Ceci he’s solid, but we could upgrade him for much less than it’d cost to get Parayko.

Fleury is a bit of a choke artist in the playoffs. And he’s trending down. You might want to look at his last 5 starts in the playoffs if you think he’s a good fit.

Tell me you don't watch Parayko play at all without telling me you don't watch Parayko play at all...

Also - Blues aren't doing this sheet

Blues are not trading Parayko. He's one of the few vets they will keep for certain during our rebuild/retool

Not a lot of Blue’s hockey typically, but I have watched them of late and have enjoyed seeing Parayko return to form. His injury history is at play here. Smart decision for St. Louis could be to move off of him while he’s healthy.

This deal may not be close enough for Blues fans but it’s a good deal, you’ve probably never watched Lavoie or Broberg either. Broberg is going to be a stud. Book it.

If the Oil had to add another prospect, I’d still do it.

His last 5 starts??? I look at their body of work. He’s a hall of fame, cup champion goalie who has had a bad stretch maybe, and he’d be acquired as a veteran presence for the Oilers young starter.

But I digress, I did not trade for him here.

With who? The rhd market is thin. To upgrade on Ceci is not as easy as it might seem. I say swing for the fences.

parayko’s size, experience, toughness, skating and intelligence are great fits next to nurse.

I think WSH would want more to sell high on Lindgren and retain.

If Thomas hasn’t taken another step this year I could conceivably see them heading for a full tear down. But he has and it would be a shame if more than 2 or 3 of the next 8 years were wasted.

We just cannot feasibly replace what Parayko brings for the next long while. He’s a horse, and he plays every matchup covering the flaws of the rest of our ****ty defense at actually defending.

In terms of the players from the Oilers side, Brobergs development has been so poorly handled by the Oilers it’s hard to imagine a situation where he does much more than salvage an NHL career. Admittedly aside from Lavoies physical specs, don’t know a lot. But I do know our forward prospect pool is in a very very good spot. It’d be an unnecessary surplus. The first is presumably anywhere from 22-32. Fine, but nothing to write home about, or justify us moving out Parayko.

If it were Faulk this would be a hard, but much different conversation.

Yea that’s possible. It’s also not a bad package for a journeyman.

I think Broberg has so much ability, he’s a good buy. He’s still a pup in dman years.

I’m a Parayko fan, so I see your point. His injury history is concerning but not a dealbreaker for me.

I’d also add to this framework of a deal cause this makes Edmonton hard to beat 4 outta 7 games.

He’s like 38. You better bet I’m looking at his most recent performances. The arrows are down, way down.

And I would argue even in his prime he showed signs of being a playoff choker. Pens definitely won in spite of him.

Again, even if that was true, he’d be brought in as insurance for stu to lean on, but I didn’t trade for him here.
