I think that might get Lindgren alone, but not both of them. I honestly would want a first for lindgren, otherwise just hold onto him. especially if the alternative is a divisional rival trade.

There is no way in hell that Lindgren is worth a 2nd+3rd or a 1st.
The third and the fifth should be more than enough to get him and the second for patches

LOL no it is not. They will not be trading him for scraps. Find a better goalie then.

Goalies don't really get that good of return (See Scott Wedgewood, Nedeljkovic, Jake Allen). It's just not a position that returns a whole lot of value come trade time. A third + 5th is a perfectly normal asking price for a goalie who is going to serve primarily as a backup

Then find a different goalie. Lindgren isn't your answer if you're looking to pay a third and a fifth. He's worth more.

No, he's not... this season is an anomaly for him. A third+fifth is a fair asking price for what he is which is a career backup

Nothing suggests this season is an anomaly, and even then, the caps will be more than happy to hold onto their starting goalie who makes 1.1M this year and next. Good luck riding Kochetkov or trading your entire future for John Gibson.

Doesn't matter if this season is an anomaly, for right now he is basically the only reason this team is anywhere close to the playoffs and should probably be 3rd in the Vezina ranking. Just not worth it for the Caps to move him right now unless the return is crazy, a 3rd+5th is not that.

There are quite a few things that suggest this season is an anomaly... This is highest sv% season (when starting more than five games) by a lot and he's on the wrong side of thirty that screams a random good season.

Then why are you trading for him??? Find an actual good goalie then if that’s what you think. It’s so idiotic to trade for a guy and say “oh he’s not that good.” Find someone you want then.

I'm not saying that he's not good... I'm saying that the goalie position as a whole is not worth a lot when you trade for them
Also, our current starting goaltender has a sub-.870 save percentage and that is not gonna win you a cup and our current third string in our organization has played 1/2 a year of pro hockey.

Supply and demand. NJ, EDM, LA all want goalies. Find one with a higher save percentage and see what that team wants for him. Lindgren costs a first. The caps are happy to hold onto him rather than send him to a divisional rival in a gift basket. He’s loved here and he performs and he’s cheap.

Even with a lot of teams out there wanting goalies he's not gonna get a 1st unless Ken Holland decides to be a dumb ass

You underestimate how stupid GMs can be. Spending a first on Lindgren wouldn’t break the top 50 dumbest trades. But there’s no reason for the caps to move him unless they get a trade they like. He’s signed through next year at 1.1M. If it was a rental, yes a first would be dumb.

You're not wrong that GMs can be incredibly stupid... I'm looking at you Treliving and desperation do make teams do completely stupid things so it might happen
