That's an interesting move with Anaheim - although I think it may be a bit short but not much.
Goodrow likely costs at least a 2nd and a prospect just to move the contract - so lets say its Goodrow + 2nd + Lamb for future considerations as a cap relief. That leaves Othmann + 1st for Henrique + Vatrano and that's where I think you call a bit short, maybe like a mid round pick or mid tier prospect. But it's a bold move to be giving up on Othmann for a rental and 1.5 of Vatrano who's been pretty average the last few months.

I also don't get why you'd even consider moving Miller for Hanifin in the first place. Seems like an overpay for what's likely a rental.

Bold... very. But if they want to go all in this year, this might be the only way they can pull it off.

Defense becomes better. Bottom 6 becomes better, and we know Vatrano can play with these guys.

It's cute that Rangers fans think they can keep slipping Goodrow into trades with the Ducks, assuming we somehow wouldn't notice that they hadn't paid for that cap dump.

laugh Anaheim isn't touching Goodrow nor does he waive for the 3rd worst team in the NHL.

Craig Conroy isn't retaining on Noah Hanifin, When he only makes $700,000 more than K'Andre Miller.

I wouldnt move Miller without knowing if Hanifin would resign with the Rangers. Secondly, Hanifin is a better overall defenseman than Miller and Gilbert is a more traditional bottom pairing Dman for those more physically demanding games. Gus would become the 7th D would could sub in anywhere in the lineup to give guys a game off.

The way I see the Anaheim trade is it would likely cost a 1st round pick to move Goodrow, so theres that. Someone else posted Henrique @ 50% for a 2nd and Lamb, leaving just Vatrano who I think its a bit of an overpay to use Othmann here but theres one thing we know about Vatrano, he can play with the Rangers. So if anything I believe its a bit of an overpay on the Rangers part.

How am I slipping Goodrow in? Im including a 1st round pick to offset trading Goodrow.

No he wont, but its likely gonna cost a 1st to move Goodrow, so there it is.

Conroy wont retain for a month and a half of hockey? Meanwhile hes getting a 23 yo defenseman in return who is cost controlled for another year and still a RFA

Lets break this down... because it seems to be very difficult for people to process this...

Part 1:
Goodrow & 1st... this portion of the trade is obligatory. Rangers pay a 1st for Ducks (or anyone) to take Goodrow. Ok?

Part 2:
Henrique (50%) for a 2nd and Lamb. Ducks get a prospect and a 2nd round pick for a guy thats not coming back next year.

Part 3:
Vatrano for Othmann: Ducks trade one of their current better players who is also gonna be 30 pretty soon for arguably the best prospect in the Rangers organization, Othmann.

I feel like I’m the one Ducks fan that feels this value is fair value.

That said, Goodrow was given a 15 team NTC, Ducks are verrrry likely in his bottom half of preferred destinations.

And for ANA, even if the value is fair, I imagine Verbeek holds off on any Vatrano trade that doesn’t blow him away until next TDL (retained) for 80% of the return he’d get today to avoid the loss in production and more importantly locker room presence/leadership/morale that Vat brings. He’s one of our absolute best locker room guys. They were just gutted after losing Drys, and are already bound to see Henrique and Lyubushkin go.

And very likely Zegras too, but not sure how much he cares about that.

The Zegras stuff seems so overblown to me. One ‘insider’ says Zegras was mentioned in a talk and was best buds with Drysdale and all of a sudden he’s on the block. I really don’t buy it that he’s going anywhere
