If the Devils were to trade Holtz it would be for good young player with term/control. I’d guess LHD on ELC that is upgrade on Kevin Bahl. So Guhle would be most obvious name. I don’t think picks would be return ask.

Just wanted to say thanks. I made this post just because I started hearing that Montreal could be interested in him and wanted to learn more. I really appreciate all of the feedback/Mock trade values/comparisons.

And yet Dach's career high in 5v5 points is 19, Holtz is at 20 halfway through the season (again more than anyone on the Habs btw). And now he's coming off a torn ACL and MCL.

Holtz is also younger, with 2 extra years of ELC and then 4 years of RFA compared to Dach who has 2 years of 3.4 mill and then 1 year of RFA.

If you think dach's value increased because he got a bunch of PP1 time, still didn't reach 20 points 5v5, and then tore his ACL and MCL, I don't know what to tell you. It's gone down, not up

Dach has more pts, is WAY better defensively, plays a more valuable position, was a third overall pick, is more physical and has a record of actually being good for more than 1 season.

....do you actually think the Devils would take that

I suppose i underestimated how much the Devils value Holtz. The players are the same age and both have put up solid numbers in the AHL, the 2nd is to make up for the fact that Holtz has been good in the NHL and has higher potential.

Holtz put up much better AHL numbers 2 years ago than Farrell is now.
Same draft class, holtz much more upside, pedigree.
And an effective NHL producer

Holtz's D+2 AHL numbers are significantly better than Farrell's D+4 AHL numbers

More than that. Holtz and Farrell are the same draft class.

Holtz 21-22 vs Farrell 23-24. Holtz is 2 years ahead of the curve and still much better production back then

Oh right I misread Farrell's page. Should have said D+4
