We have that already. No need, think we should give Peterson or Sandy a shot first before resulting to buy a goalie. But any who good riddance he's gone.

Definitely other options. If they buy, it seems known that Allen is available and it wouldn't be a big price to pay. Can't hurt given the big turnaround this season.

I'd agree given any other circumstances, but the mantra has been lets see what we have this year, such as with Zamula, Brink, Forester, etc. So I'd rather see sandstorm, but if they were too, I definitely agree Allen would be a good option and provides good veteran guidance for an overall younger team.

Ya the way Torts is getting these guys going, they almost have no room to add anywhere but G, if they did. Good depth for sure.

Especially if Ersson is the one they are trying to turn into "the guy" theres a lot of value in bringing someone like allen in.

Allen in 400 games has seen pretty much all you can go through as a goalie. Hes been a starter, a backup, a tandem guy who had to step into the starting role. Hes been to the cup finals twice and played a decent number of playoff games.

Monty and primeau has given him glowing reviews on how he has helped them with their development and price was very complimentary to him when he backed him up in his final seasons.

Danny Briere has basically said they will not make trades to compete and the future is still where they are focused. If a goalie goes on waivers then maybe they look that direction, but they aren't trading for a starter. This is Errsons job going forward.

I don't really see Allen as a starter but an improvement over Peterson. Just an idea given how much if turnaround from last season. Don't know much about Sandstrom.

I see your point and don't disagree that they could upgrade their backup. But Torts, Jonesy and Briere have speculated that they aren't planning on buying this year and are more likely to sell. Now I think that they could look to the waiver wire to add a backup. In recent weeks names like Spencer Martin, Eric Comrie and Michael Hutchinson have been available. I think those would be the type of players the Flyers might look at. Sandstrom isn't a great option.

Trading for Allen would be a good opportunity for Philly. While no giving away a tremendous amount of future for stability today, the extra year gives them stability in case the Fedotov saga keeps lingering and saves them from overspending in a weak free agency if they look for help elsewhere. Petersen with his sub .900 s% in the AHL is far from being a mid-long term solution for a playoff bound team, same can be said about Sandy. His stats are on a decline across the board as a 27yo free agent... trading for any stability would be a win (Allen or not) for this team.
