yup totally makes sense for Toronto.. oof. Already barely have top4 quality dmen and you’re trading him for a 6th?

Leafs very easily pass.

Brodie has been playing almost 22 minutes a game for the Leafs, against all the hardest matchups.

He would be better off at 19 minutes. So more of a number 4 than a number 2. So he would have number 4 value.

No retention I assume 2nd + 3rd or so. With retention I can easily see him getting a 1st. Very similar to Tanev.

Leafs fans can't stop complaining about how washed he is.

5 million dollars in cap space cleared

I think the league exists within a salary cap. This clears cap space for boston to make another move. We'd also take forbort if you like him less.

But between him, forbort, Lohrei, and Lindholm that's 4 LD.

They are wrong. He is playing 22 minutes a game, against all the hardest matchups.

Leaf fans (maybe all sport fans) are notorious for picking 1 guy and attacking him and running him out of town. Brodie is playing number 2 minutes. But he should be playing number 4 minutes.

Either way, he is still very good. He is just being over extended right now.

a 5 million dollar number 4 dman isn't exactly a top tier valuable asset.

I've heard the flames ownership doesn't like to retain salary (and the Zadorov and Toffoli trades back this up). Gives room to bring in Tanev+cap space to spare.

If Toronto doesn't want to clear cap space, good for them. I move on. If they do, that's my offer to help them do it

Not saying he is a top tier value asset. But he is more than a 6th. No retention he gets a 2nd +. I expect 2nd + 3rd. Half retained I think he gets a 1st. Those are the values I am expecting for Tanev. But I am very open to being wrong.

I think you've spent too much time talking to calgary fans pumping the tires of Tanev.

No I have been high on Tanev since day one. For the Leafs I would do a 1st for Tanev (retained) + 3rd. That's the tops I will do. But I would not be surprised if he gets a 1st straight up. 2nd + prospect is quite likely.

It should!

I think there has been a lot of back-and-forth on Grz to NJD with B’s fans…mostly in the scenario where Boston gets a new dman and needs to clear space.

or the first place team in the NHL can not subtract from their lineup.

Lohrei is in the AHL.

Is he back down there? I thought he was doing well?

It wouldn’t be subtracting from your lineup because it would come with a corresponding move to buy another asset.

I’ve seen Lindholm, Hanifin, hertl, etc etc thrown out there. Almost every time it’s been gryz thrown in to make the cap work

I think just chalking up a major deadline add is a bit presumptuous. Both the guys you've moved from boston for nothing are playing as part of the lineup that has the best record in the NHL. Grzelcyk is having a rough stretch, but in years past he's been a huge part of their top four.

Lohrei has shown a lot, but he has a lot to learn about playing in his own end.

Boqvist is a guy I personally am just a big fan of.

My thought was a Lindholm acquisition.

Which pushes Boqvist out of the lineup, and the cap space needs to be freed up by Gryz.

Lohrei up

I’ve heard underwhelming things about Gryz this year from a number of Bruins fans

I can actually see the reasoning behind this ACGM.

GMs of two solid playoff teams call each other and say "hey, this Devils team has won one playoff round in the past 11 seasons and missed 9 times out of these 11 ! Maybe we should substract from our own winning lineup to help them out ??"

Yeah it doesn't work like that

GMs of cap strapped teams call and say “hey we need cap space let’s ship out these guys we weren’t planning on bringing back anyway to get said cap space”

ya, certainly having a down year. they certainly aren't moving him for nothing, as he's been awesome for a long time in boston.

5 million dollars in cap space cleared

Leaf fans think Brodie and a low pick can get them a norris level RD
