The Miller situation

Created by: Coachchippy
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 25, 2024
Published: Jan. 25, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would it be wise for the Rangers to try KAM as a forward? I don't think anyone has an issue with him offensively. It's his defensive play that's the problem. Plus, wasn't he a winger up until college to begin with?

He's a really good player in a slump. Over the past decade, i've seen a similar title/description for Erik Karlsson, Morgan Rielly, and many others. He's still young, let him continue to develop. The best way for him to develop is to fight through this adversity. He'll become a better player for it.

NTDP moved him from forward to defense, so it would have been two years before college.

Stay the course. He develops in chunks. Look at first year vs second year at NTDP, first year vs second year at Wisconsin.

(Or give him to Devils for Toffoli, who can be 1RW)

Pass on Toffoli? Or pass on sending Miller to NJD?

Situation? This feels more like a "project".

I wouldn't have an issue moving Miller up front; in fact, I've suggested it multiple times, including moving Cuylle on to the right side.

I wouldn't do so, unless two things precede this move:

    1. Another quality defenseman was acquired to replace Miller.
    2. Schneider is elevated.

Gustafsson and Jones are not number five or six D answers; sevenths, at best.

I'd strongly consider adding a new third pair.

Pass on sending Miller anywhere, if it's not in a package for a bonafide star (think Marner or someone to that level). So yes pass on Toffoli if it's Toffoli-Miller 1 for 1
